What should you expect from your painter?

I figured with this being my first post, I would get my philosophical take on my craft out of the way.

It is my experience that there are many different types of painters out there. Cheap to Expensive. Quality to less than that.

One thing is clear. Every painter, to ask him or her, is THE best out there.

I am not, but I am constantly trying to be. I feel that there are so many products constantly being introduced to the marketplace for every type of coating or paint failure situation, that you need to keep educating yourself so you can be able to suggest the best solution to each problem. Makes sense, no? Doctor's don't just prescribe penicillin for every problem.

I believe that this is the most important thing for anyone in any profession, but for me, there is also a correlation to selling. I think all consumers will spend money if you give them the information they need, plus a little extra, so they feel educated on the topic.

I find that more often than not, many painters barrel over the homeowner with outdated routines, systems, and pricing methods. If this happened to me in Best Buy, I'd walk out.

To bring it back to the beginning; of all the types of painters out there, I certainly don't think I am the best as far as skill, and I could probably do a few other things differently, but I do believe I am one of the few that constantly assess every aspect of my business and try to do more, learn more, and deliver a better job than I did yesterday. (which was pretty good anyways.)
